TIPS
FOR TAKING GREAT TROPHY SHOTS
1) Always have your digital camera with you! You just never know. 2) Take your pictures prior to field dressing your animal. 3) Have the photographer sit down on the ground to be level with you. 4) Clean any visible blood if possible, tuck that tongue back in his mouth! 5) Have a natural backdrop if possible, avoid trucks and buildings. 6) Take multiple shots from different angles, have friends and family join in. 7) Show off your weapon of choice, but don't crowd the trophy with gear. |

Mike Wood took this nice gobbler with his Mathews from a ground blind. This was the second opportunity, Mike told me that the first opportunity didn't end up as well as he didn't account that even though he could see the target through his peep, that the arrow wasn't necessarily going to clear the opening in the blind. I'll let you use your imagination on what happened when he released, let's just say that first bird disappeared and Mike had to do a little repair job on his blind. |

Bill Hoffman from Altamont took this fine fork horn on the morning of November 9th. Bill was actually climbing down the ladder to call it a morning when he saw two does running toward his stand. They stopped 20 yards behind him and then eventually left. Bill figured the action might be picking back up so he climbed back up the ladder and as he was picking his bow back up, he saw the buck on the same trail as the does. The deer stopped only 15 yards from Bill when he launched a Rage tipped Carbon Express from his Mathews DXT right into his pump station. This was Bill's first with the bow. Congratulations! |

The 30 yard heart shot was textbook and the buck only went about another 30 yards before piling up. |

Charlie Guere scored on this big 8 pointer on the afternoon of November 24th while hunting on family land. Charlie was using a Remington Model Seven in 7mm-08 when this buck walked by his stand in bow range! Charlie had to let him walk a bit before raising his gun so he wouldn't get busted, talk about nerve racking. This buck was familiar to the hunting party as they had trail cam photos of him from October. Click here |

Paul Spranger was hunting on the family farm when he arrowed this fine 8 pointer in the town of Canajoharie. He took his buck on November 18th when he followed a doe right to Paul. The buck was keeping one eye on a 6 pointer when Paul release his G5 tipped arrow from his Bowtech 82nd Airborne. The heart shot was perfect and the big boy only went a few steps and fell over. I guess that 6 pointer was the lucky one that day. |
